Course Description:
This course introduces the entire scope of internet marketing (digital marketing) as an emerging marketing tool which is quickly becoming universally accepted as a mandatory part of any company’s marketing plan. The course will explore the existing and future uses of the telecommunication and Internet for the marketing of various goods and services. In addition, we will investigate the utility of the telecommunication and Internet as a tool for businesses to increase their effectiveness and efficiency. This course will help students understand electronic tools that can be integrated into marketing strategy.
(Technology perspective 60% + Marketing perspective 40%)
Course Goals
1. To familiarize students with the Internet. Students will study telecommunication and Internet services as marketing tools such as the World Wide Web, mobile technologies, GPS, and GIS. Use of these technologies and services for marketing purposes requires both technical and cultural understanding.
2. To study the ways that marketing can be done, and is being done, using the Internet. As the semester progresses, we should not be surprised to find the ways that the network is being used by marketers rapidly evolving.
3. Equipped with this global perspective of business and knowledge of communications technology, you should gain a competitive advantage for new opportunities in your career and business.
